Zubimendi Brace Lifts Arsenal Past Forest to Go Top of Premier League

Arsenal climbed to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference after a convincing 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who joined from Real Sociedad in the summer, scored his first goals for the club, opening the scoring in the first half before sealing the victory with a late header. Viktor Gyökeres also netted soon after halftime, finishing off a cross from new signing Eberechi Eze.

The result gave Arsenal their third win in four matches, bouncing back from a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool before the international break. However, the evening was marred by an early injury to captain Martin Ødegaard, who was forced off with a shoulder problem, adding to Mikel Arteta’s growing list of absentees that already includes Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and William Saliba.

Noni Madueke impressed with a standout performance, while Arsenal’s dominance underlined Arteta’s belief that his side can mount a sustained title challenge.

For Nottingham Forest’s new manager Ange Postecoglou, it was a frustrating return to north London, just months after being dismissed by Tottenham despite winning the Europa League. His side struggled to cope with Arsenal’s intensity and extended their winless run at the Emirates, where they haven’t tasted victory since 1989.
