Declan Rice sees red as Arsenal draw with Brighton

Image
Brighton ended Arsenal's perfect start to the Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at the Emirates. Despite dominating the first half, Arsenal had to settle for a point after Declan Rice was controversially sent off in the second half. Kai Havertz put Arsenal ahead in the 38th minute, but Rice's second yellow card, received for delaying a Brighton free kick, shifted momentum. Joao Pedro equalized for Brighton 12 minutes later. Both teams missed chances to secure the win, leaving them to share the points after an intense match.

Chelsea agree deal to sign Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho's challenging time at Manchester United seems to be nearing an end, with a move to Chelsea on the horizon. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Sancho is expected to join Chelsea on an initial loan deal, which could become a permanent transfer next summer. Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea would need to pay around €30 million to make the deal permanent—a significant drop from Manchester United's earlier valuation of €40m-€50m. Sancho, now 24, has been eager to leave Old Trafford after struggling to secure a regular spot under manager Erik ten Hag. Tensions escalated last September when Sancho publicly responded to criticism from Ten Hag about his training performance. Despite an apparent reconciliation earlier this summer, Sancho has yet to feature in any of Manchester United's Premier League matches this season.

Napoli make bold moves, Osimhen out, Lukaku In as new number 9

In a surprising turn of events, Napoli have  officially removed Victor Osimhen from their Serie A squad list for the 2024-25 season. The Nigerian striker’s departure from the squad comes after a tumultuous transfer deadline day that saw potential moves to Chelsea and Saudi Pro League’s Al-Ahli fall through. Adding to the drama, Napoli has handed Osimhen’s coveted number 9 shirt to their new signing, Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker is expected to lead the line in Napoli’s upcoming match against Parma at the Stadio Maradona on Saturday evening. Osimhen, who remains under contract with Napoli until 2026 with a salary of around €10 million per season, had been hoping to secure a lucrative move to Al-Ahli. The Saudi club reportedly offered a four-year contract worth €40 million per season, but negotiations broke down when Napoli increased their asking price. Al-Ahli subsequently signed England international Ivan Toney from Brentford instead. The squad reshuffling doesn’t end wi...

Fabrizio Romano has dropped Victor Osimhen to Chelsea update minutes before transfer deadline

Chelsea have indeed been very active on transfer deadline day, with significant deals happening right up to the wire. One of the most talked-about potential transfers involved Napoli's star striker, Victor Osimhen. There was intense speculation that Napoli had agreed to a £67 million deal with Saudi club Al-Ahli, which would see Osimhen make a surprise move. However, reports also suggested that Osimhen was holding out for a potential move to Chelsea, with the Blues making a last-ditch effort to secure his signature. Despite this, Fabrizio Romano, a highly regarded football transfer expert, has recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) with an update that essentially quashes any remaining hopes Chelsea had of landing Osimhen. This update likely means that Osimhen will stay put for now, with Chelsea's pursuit ending in disappointment. The situation underscores the unpredictability and drama that often accompanies transfer deadline day.
