Multiple Dead, Several Injured in Separate Shooting Attacks at ICE Facility in Texas and During Police Operation in Pennsylvania
At least three people were shot on Wednesday at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Dallas, Texas, before the suspected gunman took his own life.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons confirmed the incident in an interview with CNN, noting that investigators were still working to determine the motive. “It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees. At this point, we’re still working through that,” Lyons said.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the situation as “fluid,” confirming that there were “multiple injuries and fatalities,” while acknowledging a recent increase in threats targeting ICE agents.
Dozens of emergency vehicles were seen lining a highway near the facility. ICE and Homeland Security have not yet provided additional details.
The attack comes just months after a July 4th shooting at another Texas immigration detention center left a police officer wounded. Eleven suspects were later charged in connection with that assault.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident last week, three police officers were killed while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a farmhouse in York County, Pennsylvania. Two other officers remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Governor Josh Shapiro described the loss as “tragic and devastating,” ordering flags to be flown at half-staff across the state. “It’s important for you to know that these families who are grieving right now … how proud they are of their loved ones who put on the uniform to keep us safe,” he said.
Authorities said the Pennsylvania shooting appeared to be domestic-related, linked to charges of stalking and criminal trespass. The suspect was killed by police at the scene. A neighbor reported hearing as many as 30 gunshots during the confrontation.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are assisting with both investigations.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, 62 law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty so far in 2025, underscoring the growing risks faced by security personnel across the country.
