Court to Hear Nnamdi Kanu’s Request for Transfer to National Hospital

The Federal High Court in Abuja will on Monday hear an application filed by the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

In the motion, Kanu is seeking an order directing his transfer from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to the National Hospital, Abuja, where he insists he requires urgent medical attention.

Kanu’s legal team has repeatedly raised concerns about his deteriorating health condition while in detention, accusing the DSS of failing to provide adequate medical care. The application, therefore, seeks judicial intervention to ensure he receives the necessary treatment in a recognized public health facility.

The case, which has drawn significant public interest, is expected to generate strong arguments from both the prosecution and defense as the court deliberates on whether to grant Kanu’s request.
