Chelsea Nears Pochettino Appointment
Reports suggest that Chelsea are nearing the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager. According to various media outlets on Saturday evening, the Blues have reached an agreement with the former Tottenham boss. It is expected that the 51-year-old Argentinian will assume the role at the conclusion of the current season, replacing interim manager Frank Lampard.
As of now, the club has not provided any official confirmation, and inquiries have been made to Chelsea by the PA news agency for further details.
Chelsea's pursuit of a permanent manager comes after the dismissal of Graham Potter in April, only seven months into his five-year contract, due to a series of poor performances. Lampard, who previously managed the club from 2019 to 2021, was brought in as an interim solution. However, the team's struggles have persisted, resulting in their current 11th place standing in the Premier League.
Pochettino, who guided Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2019 before his subsequent sacking, has been available since leaving Paris St Germain last summer.
